Every MacLeod Homes project starts with our questionnaire. We ask for as much information as possible, from inspiration photos, budget, as well as plans and photos if you have them. This is an important step as it helps us determine whether our process and look is the best match for your project.
Before any project (big or small) gets underway, we commence with an in depth, initial consultation. We do charge a fee for our design consultation, because we want to give our clients as much valuable and tangible information as possible, should they decide full service design is not the right fit for them. We want you to walk away feeling truly confident and excited about the next steps, whether we are a part of your project or not. In addition to giving you floor plan suggestions, discussing style and finishings, and helping you with an overall vision for your space, we also like to take the time to simply get to know you and what you love!
You’ve decided you’d like us to be a part of your design or decorating project! Yay! To secure your spot with us, and for us to begin work on your project. We require a follow up meeting to thoroughly review our design contract in person. After the design consultation, we will send you a copy of the contract for you to review along with your project retainer so you can have a look and gather any questions you may have before meeting and signing.
This step consists of detailed measuring of worksite and meeting with any predetermined tradesmen and/or contractors. Working in close relationships with tradesmen from the start is a very important component of a successful project.
Our design phase is where we really get to work on making your vision a reality. Our team does all of our drawings, and sourcing for your entire project down to every last finishing before we meet again. From interior to exterior, our selections while sourcing include everything from hardware, plumbing & lighting fixtures, fabrics and furniture. We also take this time to design any custom cabinetry or millwork required for the project. Doing everything in one big design phase has been proven to be the most efficient and effective way to deliver a plan our clients love most. The more we plan, the easier it is for you to make decisions. (Design phase is anywhere from 6-12 weeks depending on the size of your project)
This is one of the most exciting steps! After we’ve carefully thought out each and every detail with your vision in mind. We are ready to show you what your home can be! We arrange a time to meet, and present everything to you in one big beautiful package. We present everything from 3D Designs, mood boards, lighting plans and provide samples for you to touch and see. Don’t worry, you’ll have a chance to review everything and we can tweak things as necessary to make sure the design is just right.
We order absolutely everything, and store it until your project is at the stage where it is ready for the pretty stuff. Everything is tracked as it ships so we always know what’s arrived and what’s still on its way.
As your construction gets underway, we are always available to answer any questions and we do site visits throughout different phases of construction to be sure everything is going according to plan.
As you get closer to the end of your construction phase, we meet up to discuss the needs and requirements for styling your home. Our team begins to collect styling and decor pieces that suit your style. Accessories are delivered to the jobsite on installation day and the design team places each item strategically. This gives the client the opportunity to enjoy a fully furnished and completed interior. The client then has 48 hours to decide whether or not to purchase items from the styling process.
Installs can take anywhere from 1-5 days depending on the size of your project. Once your construction is complete, it’s time to bring the vision to life by bringing in all the goods. This is the part where we kick you out of your house (just like on the TV shows) and our team gets to work to hang every photo, fluff every pillow and make sure every shelf is just right. This is the part that makes your dream a reality!
